Abstract
Iran, due to its unique geopolitical position, geoeconomics, and geoenergy capabilities, can play a significant role in global energy security and economy. This can in turn facilitate the country's economic development and integration into global transportation and energy corridors. Due to its geographical location in the Middle East, Iran has a high potential to become an energy and transportation transit center in the region. The simultaneous development of energy and transportation corridors in Iran can contribute to economic prosperity and increase the country's political influence in the region. However, the current situation reflects a lack of serious attention and special interest in this matter. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing Iran in the development of energy and transportation corridors and their role in the country's economic development. The research method is descriptive-analytical, based on library data collection and interviews with political and economic experts. Through the formation of a SWOT matrix based on expert opinions, four perspectives - economic, geopolitical, socio-cultural, energy and environment, internal factors (strengths and weaknesses), and external factors (opportunities and threats) related to energy and transportation corridors have been identified. Based on the intersecting matrix, key strategies for achieving desired objectives in four strategic groups - offensive (SO), adaptive (WO), imperative (ST), and defensive (WT) - have been proposed. Among the most important strategies presented are the development of key ports in the country, the promotion of cultural communications with neighboring countries, a shift towards renewable energy development, leveraging common interests with neighboring countries to mitigate the impact of economic sanctions, transparency in customs and tariff laws, and the enactment of environmental laws and regulations to control pollution.
