Abstract
This article examines the Axis of Resistance, a geopolitical and ideological alliance primarily comprising Iran, Hezbollah, and allied groups in Syria, Iraq, and Palestine. The study aims to analyze the formation, evolution, strategies, and impacts of this axis on regional and global security dynamics. Using a mixed-method approach integrating qualitative and quantitative data, the research provides a comprehensive understanding of the axis's ideological foundations, strategic alliances, and socio-political impacts.
Findings indicate that the axis employs asymmetric warfare, strategic alliances, and economic resilience to counter superior conventional military forces and maintain operations despite extensive sanctions. The axis's ideological roots in political Islam and anti-imperialism promote narratives of resistance and martyrdom that resonate strongly within Shia communities. Strategic partnerships between Iran, Hezbollah, and other allied groups enhance their collective influence and operational capabilities, significantly shaping regional politics and security.
The study also highlights the axis's socio-political impacts, including the provision of social services and parallel governance structures that garner public support and legitimize their activities. The axis's influence extends beyond the Middle East, challenging Western hegemony and aligning with global powers like Russia and China to alter the balance of power in international relations.
The implications of these findings for regional and global security are profound. The axis's activities have both stabilizing and destabilizing effects, impacting regional stability and intensifying geopolitical tensions. Policymakers must adopt multifaceted and nuanced approaches to address the challenges posed by the axis, including diplomatic engagement, comprehensive counter-terrorism strategies, and support for regional stability and governance.
